conceptual thread.

Finding the work of artist Kate Keara Pelan quite interesting.

Often she works in elaborate installations that comment directly on political or environmental issues. The work is really built out of a lot of subtle symbols installed within everyday objects.

Kate often employs stitching, fabric, and sewing into her work.

She is also a designer and works in many other mediums. Her work is often layered and perhaps a bit on the complicated side...

Therefore I wish she had a statement that went into her motivations and such, but no. So I will just enjoy the complexity. Her work seems extremely conceptual at its root.

You can see many more installations and overall shots here.

And make sure to check out her sweet series portable landscapes.
