the animals within...

Another blog, perhaps embroidery as art? brought the work of South American artist Ana Teresa Barboza to my attention. It is a blend of so much I love in art....

Universal stories intertwined with highly personal narratives and sophisticated drawing techniques combined with exquisite stitching.

VERY annoyingly I can find little actual information on Ana, her website has hardly any information and does not even have contact info. I was hoping to interview her for Future Heirlooms because I love her work so much but even her gallery did not get back to me with contact information.  The text I have found is old and obviously refers to different work and the video that comes up is just imagery no actual info. So... I am just taking her work as I see it... and today is different then yesterday so today I am feeling a little mopey and sarcastic so here are my interpretations.

For when your heart is physically bursting, bleeding, oozing out of you....

One of those days that feel like the world is shitting on you...

Or everything is working against you.

One of the moments in life where you realize you do not know someone because they have just revealed another self to you. This could be wonderful or horrifying.  As a result do you want to help them out and shed their old skin or do you want to sew them back in and forget it ever happened?

the beautiful moments when we forget everything else and simply be the animal we are, achieving the connection we all want.

Oh Ana if you read this please give me your contact information I would love to exhibit your work in my upcoming show and share an interview with you.
