saying goodbye....

Saying goodbye has never been something that I have been good at.
Specifically saying goodbye to place.
An infamous story in my family:
When I moved from my childhood home at 8 years old (i think)
Right before we left the house for the last time I stole my Mother's lipstick from her purse and covered the mirror in my old bedroom door with many, many kisses.
Cute, yes? But my mom was quite stressed with the prospect of cleaning a mirror covered in waxy lipstick with no Windex or paper towels to be found....

This week I am saying good-bye, more or less, to Massachusetts. Moving to Mass. from Ohio 5 years ago and to Western Massachusetts 3 years ago has changed our lives, and definitely for the better. Simply put, this is a special place, with special people, ideals, and landscape, and it has been a privilege to call this place home...this week each sunset I see and breeze that I feel is noticed...each bird song I hear... each cup of coffee at my favorite place... each hug from friends.
Saying good-bye has never been something that I am good at...

But somehow I feel this relationship to this place is not over yet perhaps she will be home again?

Such a lovely post...perfectly describes the feelings I have when we move. Actually, I do not think I could have said it better myself.

I know that area well, in fact we will spend the memorial weekend in the Berkshires, the skies are beautiful. It is amazing how bittersweet such a moment can be Joetta, it is lovely to here of friendships and skies. What is extra special is that you love it and want to return to it someday......most people only realize that along time after they have left how special this time has been... Good luck! is it Brooklyn bound?
