in my studio

Finally an update on what I am working on...

My new embroidery...I am so excited about it and really think that it is going to be one of the best pieces I have made of yet... I am using it as an opportunity to really improve my skills and experiment on it...I may also include some applique?

Leftovers from comforts...this piece is made of the leftover yarn from the piece comforts and once knitted it will be embroidered with words that represent the leftovers of love...

My knitted plant. what can I say I want to knit a plant. So I am. I am right now just making the leaf shapes and once they are made will add details and structure.

I would love feedback.

And hopefully within the next 30 minutes I will be on my way to the studio to work. Applying for jobs takes up my entire morning, agh!

I have to say I need your votes as the competition is stiff and I am late in the slide show. They do not list my name but list me as Artist J.M... but the work submitted was my embroidery work from my thesis show... I kind of wish my images were the better newer images I have but, hey what can you do.

morning mess...

Even if you wake up to a morning mess you can still find beauty within it...

So I just saw this on a post over at Aesthetic Outburst but I loved this young ladies stuff so much I had to share it too...

I mean come on sewn cameras what more do I need to be excited:

She even made the film....

My only question is where is the hasselblad Blythe? It is the cream of the crop in the camera world.

Now I never know what I would do with all the fabric based creations I love but... I do love being inspired by them.

A little more shay...

Last week I mentioned seeing Shay Church's work at a Chelsea show...you all generated lots of traffic on his site, thanks!!!
Shay was nice enough to email me images of the piece that was actually in the show...and a in-process shot....

My friend and I were really moved by this piece, she spoke about how elephants actually cry at the death of other elephants... they are such beautiful and powerful animals...

if only life were as simple as...

If only life were as simple as finding the beauty in wood and light.
I am in a funk today, contemplating jobs, life, my work, and the pathetic and impossible task of getting my work out there. It's easy to wonder why you even go into your studio.

So needless to say "funk."

Jobs are never quite right no matter how good they are, as it means you are not working on your work but someone else's....

lives are simply hard and complicated, and today tiring...

my work...what I make work? no that's not true I am working in stuff just not being excited about working on it, hard to be excited when you do not know when anyone will see it...

at least it is quite lovely outside, perhaps it will lift my funk and fog into some sunshine?
