sharing an open studios with a great artist...

I recently saw artist Lisa Kellners' work over at the lovely blog of miss Emily B.
And my response was pretty much, omg beautiful!!!

And then when I saw that she was participating in the same open studios that I am this weekend, I was delighted.
I will have to try to stop by and visit her studio since it is literally down a doorway from my building...

But wow, look at her gorgeous work and again a lovely palette of pastels.
Strangely she has a relationship visually to Langdon Graves who I just posted about.

But my visceral response is so different. I just want to crawl inside of these installations and take a long, safe, hopeful nap.
Again I see the heritage of Eva Hesse, strange that she has come up twice for me in one week, is the universe telling me something?
And I see a relationship to one of my all time faves...Ernesto Neto.

Ms. Kellner states:
My process involves manipulating a material until its intended purpose is obscured and the piece embodies aspects of: layering, the veneer, the body, surfaces and patterning...
Nature is an influence; less for its beauty and serenity than for it's relentless force and impartial application. It is this methodology that I aim to harness in my own work.

So New Yorkers and Brooklynites now you have 2 great reasons to come to the Gowanus open studios me and Lisa...
