art critical

Read this fabulous interview with Jerry Saltz and Roberta Smith.  I respect both of their work so much and especially how they are always honest, frank and keep it about art. Read.

another excellent article by Smith on the danger and shame of the current art market.

Merry Christmas

Wishing you and all of yours a very....

I hope you have a lovely tree, we do, full of handmade and vintage ornaments...

We already played in the snow last week, and now its all melted...

We hope to go on the little ones first ice skating adventure, if the weather cooperates.

and once the sleepy head crawls out of bed I think we will see a lot of happy faces opening presents...

and then a nice walk cozied up in our winter gear...

I am teaching in a heavenly place....

I am so unbelievably excited and honored to be a part of the amazing wonderful creative group of folks that teach with Squam Art Workshops.  I will be teaching with Squam Workshop for their June Fiber week. I have been an admirer of the workhops and the mission of Elizabeth their founder for awhile now so I am very excited to be in squam teaching. I know that it is already almost sold out so sign up NOW.

My class is....

Exquisite Stitch

In this class we will slip into a gentle place and bring a meaningful moment forward.

Read all about the class and the workshops here.

swear.

I swear I am alive, I still love you, I still have so much in my voice to say, I have so much stitching out of my fingers but what I do not have is so much time. I am working every free minute I have to get this piece done for a show in February and I am feeling so pressed.
So it just seems that to get here and speak to you wonderful, creative beauties never ends up happening. But I am here in my studio making as much as my little body can. I hope you are too.

take life by the seat of your pants

Very sad as this unique spirit is no longer walking amongst us but just seeing this artist video makes me want to grab my life and creativity by the seat of the pants and go.

This young woman makes me want to love a little more, be a little more wacky, wear what I want and make everything I can dream of. See more of her lovely work here.

simply laborious

some interesting work by Japanese born NYC based artist Kumi Yamashita. She creates technically amazing and conceptually driven portraits from very unique and often laborious processes.

Such as a single thread and nails.

 Credit card rubbings.

Shoe prints on sheets.

 Shadow.

and pulling threads. See more here.
