sweet and simple...

I just wanted to look at and be inspired by something sweet and simple today and Mary's Granddaughter does the fix. Cindy has created a wonderful blog and shop full of sweet and lovely things all inspired by her beloved grandmother Mary.

She uses skills learned from Grandma Mary to create embroidered drawings, knitted dolls, and handmade toys.
and all the charm of the work is in the details.

Her work calls back to a time when life and things were simple and her style of illustration very much reminds me of the unforgettable illustrations of Maurice Sendak, specifically the classic Where the wild things are.

Oh so sweet and simple.

I really love that girl in the bathing suit. Her fabric piece of beautiful on that illustration. Definitely Maurice Sendak-ish.
