in bed...

Here are some final images of in bed..., they are not the best as the curator of my show is actually holding the piece so when I go back to the exhibit I will need to re-photograph so that I can properly get the edges in the image.
But... I am really happy with the piece, at first the paint was not really working but after adding some pink cheeks and my wedding ring the colors all started to pop forward well.

The piece went really fast so I am excited to get started on my next one, I just need to get to my studio when it is dark to transfer the images and with the combo of it staying light later and my overdue preggers body being exhausted- late night studio time has been a rarity...
But maybe today?

in bed, made.

a very weird angle but a peek at this pieces progress. This was a few days ago and now it is pretty much totally finished. So tomorrow I will have pics of the finished product.
I am really happy with it and it is a nice medium size that I do not work with that much.

Next I have one small and 2 larger pieces to get started. But since it is bright so late I have not been able to transfer the images yet, I need dark. So I might do that tonight, I normally teach most evenings but have taken the month of April off since I am super preggers and hoping to birth any day now, like today would just be great.

Weirdly, I have been at a loss for words for word pieces and am hoping some will come to me soon as I have a new linen that is crying out to be a text piece.

Don't forget if you make work with text to submit to my curatorial call.

busy but beautiful weekend.

here is a sneak peek at my newest work. It has come along quite a bit more today- going down into the hands. C really likes how stylized the hair is- so I might push that in a few other elements of the piece. We will see.

My weekend was great and busy, I had a group of students into my studio Saturday morning and it was very fun. They were a warm and engaging group and it was fun to talk to them about my process and career. Plus it was an incredibly gorgeous day with the sun pouring in and the breeze blowing about. Then C and I finished building the wall in our bedroom to partition of the baby's space. So fun... please notice the sarcasm.
Sunday evening, another gorgeous day was capped of by what I feel like was a very successful intro meeting to collective thread. I am super excited about getting this collective rolling and was very happy with the fact that we had 12 + people show up to brainstorm about what the collective could be. We shared a lot of helpful info and I really think it could be a great way to build a great community. Next meeting we will have crits of 2 of the artists and share community again. If any one is interested in getting details about the meetings just let me know.

Now I have to get caught up on all my emails that I have been ignoring all weekend.
