the human condition of human survival...

Work of Berlin artist Sybille Hotz...
The large scale stuffed human figures are based on the illustrations found in survival and first aid manuals....

The way that she chooses to leave certain aspects of the figure undeveloped and "blank" adds a huge level of pathos, fear, and beauty....

I am especially interested in her work at the moment as I am considering using applique in my embroideries, differently then she does but...this inspires me and shows how much scale can affect the hand medium....

Please spend time at her website because she has some very lovely work that did not want to be copied and pasted into this post...it's worth the visit.
