stitched collections.

stitched rolodex cards

I fell upon the work of Daniella Woolf from a mention in the SDA newsletter. Combined with my own exploration of expanding how I can use the stitch and collection along with wanting to encourage folks to expand their interpretation of fiber work for the collective thread exhibition-
I was enamored.

I particularly like Daniella's installations which are simple in the daily act of collection required to create and build them as well as the simplicity in their form.

I have a few friends that have worked with tea bags- as they are, for many of us, a daily reminder of ritual and routine. Daniella's tea pieces are some of the most successful that I have seen.

She also creates some very lovely encaustic pieces...

and has a series of words works that reference her use and need for daily journaling in her daily practice as an artist.

Her word works draw to mind a number of minimalist greats including Agnes Martin and On Kawara.
